Great fun today at Sunday Workshop organised by The Photographers’ Gallery. Every first Sunday of the month the Soho based gallery is running an open and free entry workshop for creative minds. Today the theme was the Regeneration: transforming a photograph through stitching, painting, drawing and collage. I’ve been working on two old sepia portraits and mixing it with stitching, adding colour and text cut from a newspaper.
The first one, which I titled “Glamour” a portrait of a young, elegantly looking woman has been transformed by adding silver stitch over one of her eyes and arranging for a shiny eye-patch and adding red “lipstick” with a marker. The new image has added a bit of a mystery by hiding one of the subject’s eyes.
The second one with a new title: “Free Spirit” is a portrait of a young and elegant man standing in an arranged studio, resting one of his arms on the small column. The man has been added a text in a comic book style and LGBT painted tissue in his suit’s pocket.
The Workshop is a great chance to meet people, work in a relaxed and friendly surrounding and help your imagination exploring new areas.
Save 6th July 2pm-5pm in your calendar for the future workshop, the theme will be collage. See how it looks and check the contact details here: http://
